Maud ISD Esports Soars: Three Teams Advance to State Championship

Maud, Texas - December 8, 2023 - The Maud Cardinals are flying high as three of their esports teams have secured their spots in the state championship for two popular games! After weeks of intense competition, the Overwatch 2 and Fortnite squads will battle it out on Championship Sunday, December 17th, in Duncanville, TX, for the coveted state title. This will be the third consecutive State Championship event for the Maud Fortnite Team.

This impressive achievement marks a significant milestone for the Maud ISD esports program, which has seen rapid growth and success in its short existence. The program, spearheaded by a dedicated coach and passionate student competitors, has quickly become a point of pride for the district and the Maud community. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone for the burgeoning Maud ISD Esports program. The Cardinals have quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the competitive esports arena.

"We are incredibly proud of our esports teams for reaching this level of excellence," said Braden Brown, Maud Esports Program Director and Coach. "Their dedication, teamwork, and passion are truly inspiring."

The Overwatch 2 team has dominated the competition throughout the season, showcasing exceptional teamwork and strategic prowess. They'll be facing off against the best teams in the state, but their confidence and determination remain unwavering. The Overwatch 2 team remains undefeated and has outlasted forty-two other schools, reaching the final four in competition.

The Fortnite teams have consistently impressed with their skillful gameplay and clutch performances. They're known for their aggressive strategies and unwavering focus, and they're eager to prove themselves on the biggest stage. Maud Esports represents half of the field in the Championship Round with the Cardinals Maroon and Cardinals Silver teams claiming spots in the top four out of a pool of seventy-two total teams. 

The Maud ISD community is rallying behind their Cardinals, eager to witness their success on Championship Sunday. This historic achievement is a testament to the program's growth and potential, and it paves the way for even greater things to come.
